Manufacturing sales in April hit lowest level since January 2022

Uncertainty regarding tariffs drove Canada’s total manufacturing sales to their largest month-over-month decrease since October 2023 and their lowest level since January 2022 in April.

Uncertainty regarding tariffs drove Canada’s total manufacturing sales to their largest month-over-month decrease since October 2023 and their lowest level since January 2022 in April.

According to the latest data from Statistics Canada, lower sales of petroleum and coal products drove the decline, which was down 10.9 per cent last month.

Petroleum product sales in current dollars were down 17.5% in April on an annual basis.
