A man who illegally rented a canoe to an American family at Lake Louise has pleaded guilty to operating a business without a licence and violating the Canada National Parks Act.

At a court hearing in Canmore on Wednesday, David Daviau was fined $3,000 and banned from visiting Banff National Park for a year for his actions, which resulted in the family being capsized while out on the water.
