Man faces child sex abuse charges at former Mississauga daycare
Police charged Juan Carlos Castillo-Fuenmayor with sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching and other child sex abuse crimes.
The Niagara Regional Police Service has concluded a significant phase of a long-term investigation into child sex abuse allegations, resulting in seven criminal charges against a Mississauga resident.
The case originated in August 2024 when uniform officers in the Welland and Pelham district began looking into reports of sexual assault tied to a former daycare facility located on Heron Street in the City of Welland.
Due to the gravity of the accusations, the investigation was subsequently handed over to specialized detectives within the Child Abuse Unit.
A major breakthrough in the case occurred on April 28, 2026, when investigators received the results of a DNA warrant. This forensic evidence allowed police to positively identify a suspect in connection with the incidents reported at the former childcare centre.
