Man charged with violent sexual assault, confining minor
Mohammad Qasim, 61, was charged by Winnipeg police after sexually assaulting and confining a youth.
A man in his early 60s is facing multiple serious charges following a police investigation in Winnipeg into allegations of sexual offences involving a teenager, authorities say.
According to the Winnipeg Police Service, the investigation began in May 2026 after a report was made indicating that a youth had been sexually exploited and A man in his early 60s has been charged in Winnipeg after police say he repeatedly sexually assaulted a teenage victim, confined them against their will, and used threats of violence to silence them.
On May 12, 2026, officers arrested the suspect at the Burrows Avenue address shortly after 6 a.m. The arrest was made without incident.
Mohammad Qasim, 61, is facing multiple charges, including child luring, four counts of sexual assault, sexual interference, forcible confinement, uttering threats, and sexual assault with a weapon, along with several related charges tied to the alleged repeated offences.
