MALCOLM: CBC's foreign worker scandal

Juno News co-founder Candice Malcolm breaks down the scandal of the taxpayer-funded CBC - the CANADIAN Broadcasting Corporation - hiring foreign workers over Canadians

Just when we thought the state broadcaster couldn’t stoop any lower, Juno News uncovered this unbelievable report about the CBC hiring Temporary Foreign Workers.

According to documents obtained from the Department of Employment and Social Development Canada, CBC has filed and been approved for at least 20 Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIA) for high skilled jobs in Ontario.

This includes positions in journalism, tech and business.

A LMIA is a central component in the scam that is the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP).

When an employer wants to hire a foreigner over a Canadian, they must first prove that no Canadian has the skills needed to fill the role.

So they put out fake job postings – usually buried on their website and often including obscure skills that almost no one possesses.

It’s a box-ticking exercise, and it’s done for one simple reason: to prioritize a foreigner worker over a Canadian, usually to save money. This almost always results in wages getting driven down, and Canadians losing out on jobs in our own country.

It’s one thing for a private company to do business this way. It’s sad that Tim Hortons chooses to hire foreigners over young Canadians, and as it’s led to staggering youth unemployment – 14.6%!

But at the end of the day, private companies will take advantage of whatever government-created loophole they can to make more money.

But the CANADIAN Broadcasting Corporation has absolutely no excuse for hiring foreigners over Canadians. For goodness sakes, their purpose is to promote a distinct culture and identity for Canadians!

Remember, the CBC is always lecturing us how they are indispensable for Canada, how Canada would somehow cease to exist if the CBC ever disappeared.

Here is the list of positions CBC claimed were so technical and specific that NO CANADIANS could fill:

• Journalism jobs including: broadcasters, announcers, and broadcast technicians

• Tech jobs including: computer programmers, network technicians, web designers & developers

• Business jobs, including: marketing, business management & consulting

In other words, the exact positions that our CANADIAN universities pump out tens of thousands of grads each and every year.

But according to government data, the CBC needed to import temporary foreign workers to do these jobs.

To add insult to injury, the CBC noted some of these are “high wage” positions.

And it gets worse, because it’s the CBC so there’s always something worse.

During this same period, the CBC CUT over 600 jobs and killed another 200 positions in their ranks.

And, of course, during the same time period, top brass gave themselves millions in bonuses.

The arrogance of it all.

And more arrogance. When CBC was asked about their hiring foreign workers, here is what CBC responded with:

“Regarding your question, there’s nothing I’m aware of but perhaps if you could give me more specific details I’d be able to give you a more informed answer.” Chuck Thompson, Head of Public Affairs, CBC

And after being provided with “more specific details,” do you think CBC has responded to try and justify hiring foreigners over Canadians? No, of course not.

Let’s recap, shall we:

• The CBC is an unabashed propaganda machine pushing a toxic far-left ideology

• It operates as an extension of the Liberal Party of Canada, openly interfering in our elections and undermining the democratic process

• On top of all of that, the CBC is a horribly managed business that undercuts Canadian wages by hiring cheap foreigners through an exploitative program that is nothing more than a scam

• And through all this, the arrogant CBC acts like they don’t answer to Canadians, and shrug off questions and criticism - because they know the Liberals will protect their propaganda news outlet

This story highlights two major programs with our government: the propaganda machine that is the CBC and our scammy immigration system.

Here’s a simple solution:

DEFUND the CBC

END the Temporary Foreign Worker Program
