While politicians are set to receive automatic pay raises in April, outrage is brewing over the Governor General’s massive salary, which is largely for a ceremonial role. As her pay is set to automatically jump by $15,800, a majority of Canadians believe her nearly $400k salary should be slashed.

A new Leger poll commissioned by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) reveals that 59 per cent of Canadians believe the governor general of Canada, Mary Simon’s $393,800 salary is too high, and 81 per cent think she should not receive a pay raise.
