Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem appeared reluctant to weigh in on Prime Minister Mark Carney’s claim that affordability is at its best level in more than a decade while testifying before the House of Commons finance committee.

Conservative MP Jasraj Singh Hallan asked Macklem whether he agreed that affordability was not the best it has been in more than a decade — a clear reference to recent claims by Carney and Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne.
