Louise Arbour sworn in as Canada’s new Governor General
Arbour added that while Canadians may be rightfully concerned about the country’s ongoing challenges, they should also recognize how fortunate they are to live here.
Former Supreme Court justice Louise Arbour was officially sworn in as governor general in Ottawa on Monday after being appointed by Prime Minister Mark Carney last month to succeed Mary Simon.
The governor general serves as the King's representative in Canada. The role includes acting as commander-in-chief of Canada, awarding military honours and swearing in cabinet ministers.
