When you have a UNION drilling the teachers about just how hard their job is (which is true) and how NOBODY ELSE works as hard as they do (many DO NOT WORK HARD AT ALL, look at the results), of course the teachers BELIEVE they deserve more. They keep talking about class size, but the money added to address that never seems to actually do it. The ATA is in it for themselves first of all. Next comes tbe teachers. The students rank WAY DOWN THE LIST. They have a monopoly and do not have to perform. GET RID OF THE UNION - for tbe sake of children's education.

I support Danielle Smith not the teachers. Canada is collapsing and they want to increase more taxes upon us with a greedy pay raise. By the way they are teaching our children garbage with woke and dei crap while their union keeps supporting the NDP which in turn is supporting the Liberals. While the federal government keeps taking 60 % of our taxes and leaving Alberta broke. Greedy teachers, they should be asking for refund on their education because you guys aren’t very smart. Wake up Canada, this is a very big crack in the economy that is starting to show its ugly head from 10 years of Liberal robbery of Canada…

It should be noted that "Ontario's minimum wage is now $17.60 per hour, Nova Scotia's and Prince Edward Island's are $16.50 an hour, Manitoba's is $16 per hour and Saskatchewan's is $15.35 an hour." [https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/canadian-provinces-minimum-wage-1.7647892]

In Ontario, this an increase of 2.27% in the minimum wage. This will result in a 5% to 10% increase in the price of food at the store. My biggest concern is ODSP and CPP-D incomes aren't indexed to meet the cost of living. These folks get infaltionary raises at best which we all know doesn't match the cost of living. And, the disabled will be competing with "working families lining up at dawn", veterans and military personnel. The latter documented in https://globalnews.ca/news/10394176/nb-oromocto-food-bank-demand-canadian-forces/

I would like to thank the Canadian Press reporter for using numbers and bar graph to empower Canadians with accuate information. The CBC could take lessons from this article in publishing articles on the Canada economy and Federal Gov finances.

I get the feeling this strike has nothing to do with wages/working conditions, but is instead all about making trouble for Premier Smith and diverting her attention from other important matters.

Since most all Teachers CANNOT teach anyway, why not just fire them?

Kris Simms is such a great interviewer. She makes every interview, even on dry economic issues, so interesting. I am definitely going to check out this smart, interesting guy, The Food Professor, and become more realistically informed on issues of food security.

I think that the food professor is not thinking straight when he believes that we are on a better track with Carney…he obviously doesn’t know the man that well…Carney is only in this for himself and he does not care if we all starve to death, in fact it makes his job for the WEF easier….he also should get the name of his host straight…he kept calling you Kim not Kris…

Please talk to teachers - not the union! Spend a day in an overcrowded, underfunded classroom and see if a few bucks will reduce your workload and stress!

These obscene teacher pay numbers show where education funding is going - straight into teachers pockets. No one with 4 years of higher education and works so few days in a year should be paid $100k a year. Period. And I am a former teacher!
