London police say 22-year-old Hosam Theeb is facing charges after members of the London Police Service responded to an alleged sexual assault in the city’s south end over the weekend.
According to police, on Sunday, at approximately 8:10 p.m., a 9-year-old girl was riding her bike in the area of Ferndale Avenue and Dulaney Drive when a man she did not know asked her to stop and talk with him.
Police further alleged that when the girl stopped, the man sexually assaulted her.
The victim’s father, who was out in the area looking to bring his daughter home for the night, observed the suspect sexually assaulting her, according to London police.
The suspect was located and arrested a short time later in the same area as the alleged sexual assault. Police said the victim did not sustain any physical injuries.
The investigation has since been reassigned to the LPS Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section.
As a result of the investigation has been charged with one count of sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age.
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to reappear in the London court on June 25 in relation to the charge.
