Lisa Robinson's mayoral campaign to stop refugee hotel, restore freedom
Pickering's embattled city councillor is running for mayor , vowing to restore residents' access to the city council, to uphold free speech, rein in spending and stop a new taxfunded asylum hotel.
Pickering Councillor Lisa Robinson, whose pay was suspended for more than a year by the city, is running for mayor. In an exclusive interview with Juno News, she vowed to restore free speech and end funding for Pickering’s new “irregular asylum seeker” hotel.
She also said the city council and staff used tax dollars to mount a campaign against her over her views, spending public funds without consulting residents and silencing Pickering residents.
“My entire campaign is based on returning city hall to the people,” Robinson told Juno News. “For over two years, they have been sanctioning my pay, and most of the sanctions have been coming from the mayor and the CAO, my fellow councillors, and the reason why they’re doing that is that I have been standing up.”
