However, if the library deemed certain books unnecessary, you were required to borrow other materials from larger libraries. It seems that the Liberals are pining for the days prior to the internet and seeking to keep censoring until they are satisfied no one can research their activities. Essentially returning Canada to a time before the internet, open free speech, and discussion. But how will this work with AI? So the premise around AI is to be able to bind in multiple discussions and data groups into one large language model and have AI draw conclusions that could direct research on cures for diseases. Having an openly restricted internet means the government sets what is allowed in the LLM for AI. And thus no good comes of the AI initiative because humanity is degrading its effectiveness.
I see this situation as similar to Norway; having visited the country of my ancestry a few times, I attempted to watch TV there. And frankly, TV in Norway consists of a few stations, and these are state-run and essentially meaningless. In addition to media restrictions, the Internet is also filtered, and I am barred from accessing Norwegian Internet sites from Canada, but some Norwegians are allowed to access sites outside of Norway. The entire system exploits the free spirit of the Norwegian people, who prefer outdoor activities over indoor ones. And I suspect Canada will return to this scenario as the government seeks to keep up their censorship activities. Opening the censorship box will reveal an infinite array of potential censorship targets. The problem is one day the Liberals will lose power and be subject to the rules they imposed.
