Members of the Liberal Party of Canada are set to vote on ranked ballots, proportional representation and other electoral reform proposals at an upcoming convention, 10 years after former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau broke his promise to reexamine Canada’s electoral system.

One resolution calls for a system requiring candidates to win “50 per cent plus one vote” to be elected. Party members will have a say on whether ranked-ballot voting could be adopted to ensure that a candidate can reach that new benchmark.
