As food bank use hits record levels, the Liberals are sending $63.2 million to UN food aid — triple the $20 million allocated to a domestic program — drawing criticism from Conservative MP Ned Kuruc.

Global Affairs Canada approved the multi-million-dollar grant to the United Nations World Food Programme for “Multi-country Crises — emergency food assistance — WFP 2026.” The agreement runs from March 30 through Dec. 31, 2026.

It provides emergency assistance across more than 20 countries.
