Liberals flip again on possible military role in Iran
As tensions escalate in the Middle East, Ottawa says it could assist allies in securing the Strait of Hormuz, while Cuba faces widespread blackouts and Trump makes new remarks on the island’s future
After appearing to reject calls for support, the Liberals say they haven't ruled out a potential military role in the Strait of Hormuz, with Defence Minister David McGuinty saying Canada is “leaving the door open” to assist allies.
Meanwhile, Cuba’s power grid has collapsed and left millions without electricity after the U.S. cut off Venezuelan oil shipments that had been propping up the island’s energy system.
President Trump said he would deal with Cuba after the war in Iran and suggested he could “take Cuba” and “do anything” with it.
