Liberals cast doubt on reported pipeline deal
Anonymous sources told reporters a pipeline deal was close — but Liberal MPs quickly signalled the story may not hold up.
Earlier this week, unnamed government sources claimed Ottawa and Alberta were moving toward a northern pipeline agreement. But soon after the story broke, Liberal MPs offered a very different tone. Their public comments suggested the conditions for any deal don’t appear to exist, raising questions about why the story surfaced, who pushed it, and what Ottawa is really signalling behind the scenes.
Marc Patrone speaks with commentator and historian John Robson about what the conflicting narratives reveal about Ottawa’s strategy.
Also this week, Privy Council Clerk Michael Sabia told a parliamentary committee that it would be “complicated” to require Prime Minister Mark Carney to divest his Brookfield investments, arguing the country “needs the best talent.”
Plus, U.S. Ambassador Pete Hoekstra said that any hopes of reopening Canada–U.S. trade talks may depend on Canada moving ahead with its purchase of F-35 fighter jets. He noted that Washington is waiting to see where the federal government lands on its fighter procurement plans and highlighted that the current trade framework is closely tied to Canada’s defence commitments.

Where's Carney???
He is making Waldo look like a rank amateur.
Now he is apparently in the Middle East making meaningless deals for Canada.
You thought the jerk with the sock fetish ran away when the going got tough.
Carney is making that idiot look like a rank amateur.
Now apparently the guy who looked best in that orange jump suit speaks for Canada.
WOW...
We are truly done.
Carney is the same guy who launched the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero at COP 26 in Glasgow -- which has since been abandoned after several of its members jumped ship earlier this year. Nevertheless, Carney is unlikely to give up his Net Zero fantasy, and equally unlikely to approve an oil pipeline despite his brag about making Canada an "energy superpower.".
