MP Rachael Thomas says condemning foreign interference, including bomb threats shouldn’t be controversial or complicated. “Yet the Liberals refused.”

The Liberals are facing backlash after voting down a motion to condemn the Chinese Communist Party over bomb threats targeting Falun Gong-linked cultural performances in Canada.

Conservative Heritage critic Rachael Thomas says Ottawa had days to act but ultimately refused to take a clear stand against foreign intimidation on Canadian soil. The decision comes as questions mount over whether the federal government is willing to confront Beijing even in the face of alleged interference and threats.

“Twelve days ago, the Liberals said they needed time to consider a simple motion condemning the Communist Party of China for targeting Canadian artists and theatres,” Thomas wrote in a post to X.

On Tuesday, Liberal MPs voted against it in the House of Commons.
