Liberals block Conservative bail reform, harsher sex crime sentencing bills
Conservative MP Andrew Scheer said all three motions were voted down by the Liberal government.
Despite Conservative efforts to get tough on crime, the Liberal government killed three key public safety bills on Wednesday, torpedoing legislation that would have strengthened bail laws, limited parole for repeat offenders and ensured harsher sentencing for sexual crimes.
Conservative MP Andrew Scheer said all three motions were voted down by the Liberal government, despite calls from provincial governments across Canada for stricter rules as violent criminals are continually released from jail despite the serious nature of their crimes.
