LEVY: Cowardice at Toronto City Hall fuels Al-Quds hate march
"Ontario and the city of Toronto are run by idiots. I refer to idiots who have no spine or moral compass—and think they’re far smarter than the average voter."
Ontario and the city of Toronto are run by idiots.
I refer to idiots who have no spine or moral compass—and think they’re far smarter than the average voter.
I take you to the annual Al Quds hatefest — an annual march which has illegally occupied the downtown streets of Toronto for years and celebrates (the non existent) country of Palestine and opposes Israeli control over Jerusalem.
It has typically included artfully manufactured signs calling for the “Death to Jews” and an “Intifada,” along with highly vitriolic and anti-Semitic rhetoric.
I watched this year’s Al Quds hatefest— which occurred Saturday — turn into a circus in the preceding days as police officers and politicians tripped over each other to offer patronizing assurances that everyone would be safe and hate would be dealt with expeditiously by police.
The promises to arrest expeditiously protesters shouting hateful slogans, threats and harassing the Jews, never materialized, of course.
The protesters were even allowed to occupy public space to engage in prayer (perhaps for the eradication of the Jewish state) before they began their hatefest and march.
Two counter protesters (pro-Israel types) were arrested for calling out terrorism and — get this — defacing an IRGC flag while Hezbollah and Hamas sympathizers were permitted to shout their usual hateful anti-Israel tirades and deface a traffic sign while Toronto’s Keystone Cops stood there doing absolutely nothing.
It was two-tier policing at its best.
Despite all the hyperbole about needing to protect the public space — after three synagogues and the U.S. Embassy were shot at in one week — the police were at their ineffectual and laissez faire best pretending the shouts from radicalized Jew haters were okay by them.
As in previous years the Jew haters occupied the downtown streets illegally without a permit and the police did nothing. They even accompanied them.
But as reports stated, the Al Quds organizers had apparently met with police to discuss their protest and prayer plan —and the police were only too happy to oblige.
I can only wonder if I formed a radical Jewish group that planned to shout “Death to Muslims” or “Death to Gays (I guess that includes myself) or “Death to Blacks” on the streets of downtown Toronto, would the Keystone Cops be so complicit?
But sadly this lunacy has become so normalized that no one even questions the rights of these radicals to take over our streets and spew their hatred.
Heaven forbid, we should criticize and be accused of Islamaphobia, or in my case a member of the Zionist lobby.
Mayor Olivia Chow and her Hamas caucus disappeared from sight over the past few days but Chow did reappear for the St. Patrick’s Day parade Sunday.
She made not one comment about Al Quds but I have absolutely no doubt she and past-her-best-before-date Police Services board chairman Shelley Carroll were directing Chief Myron Demkiw and the boys to go easy on the Jew hating terrorist sympathizers.
PM Mark Carney, as is his wont, flew the coop to Norway with his wife Diana.
But hey he wouldn’t have said anything anyway or helped in any way considering he and his caucus have done a tremendous job of fomenting anti-Semitism and bringing in immigrants and refugees from countries where they are taught to hate the Jewish people.
The latest was Iranian Cleric Hojjatoleslam Morteza Tayyebi, who literally landed in Canada in time to lead the parade.
It’s like Carney is mocking all of us.
Better he fly away on Air Carney enjoying his pricey platters of shrimp and caviar mid-flight.
But the most monumental screw-up of the day began nearly 24 hours before when Premier Doug Ford announced he’d seek an injunction to stop the parade.
This was after days and days of buck-passing by politicians and well-funded (Liberal ) Jewish lobby groups, who appeared to be waiting for someone else to do something.
Most of us saw through Ford’s gaslighting – that is, except the weak, well-funded Jewish lobby groups.
The injunction was doomed to fail.
It was filed at the 11th hour (three hours before the parade’s start), a weak lawyer acted for the government and a Trudeau-appointed judge, seemingly with Muslim sympathie,s heard the case.
Judge Robert Centa even allowed Samidoun – a listed terrorist group–to speak at the hearing.
It seems Ford got just what he wanted. He could say he tried and it was the judge’s fault for tossing the bid out of court.
But for those of us watching from the sidelines, it was an epic fail, making things worse for my community and emboldening the haters.
Watching all the theatrics, I longed for those days seven years ago when the police let the haters scream and shout and few media paid attention, except me.
Back then, the illegal protest wasn’t forced off the street. No water cannons were used. No arrests were made.
At least it wasn’t an all-out circus.
Still, I knew back then that left to fester, the haters would be emboldened to ramp up their Jew hatred.
I knew the police pandering to their illegal occupation of our streets amid the fears of being called Islamophobic would only exacerbate the situation.
The absolute circus Saturday showed me what happens when politicians and our Keystone Cops allowed the genie out of the bottle.
Now they have no clue how to make things right.

A phobia is an irrational fear. Is it irrational to fear Islam? It would be irrational NOT to fear Islam, ergo, there is no such thing as "Islamophobia." We will be France and Britain in no time if we keep labeling people with legitimate concerns as "Islamophobic." It may already be too late, especially with our liberal (or Liberal) immigration policy and our suicidal tolerance for those who do not tolerate us.
