Legacy media journalists pressed Liberal Canadian Culture Minister Marc Miller to extend the Online News Act to include AI companies, subjecting them to the same regulations that Google and Meta are subjected to under current legislation.

In response, Miller indicated his government wants a “serious conversation” with AI companies about their use of news content.
