Legacy media journalists MELTDOWN over Juno News interview with Pierre Poilievre
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre told Juno News’ Candice Malcolm that the Canadian Parliamentary Press Gallery is a "small cabal of government-approved mouthpieces." Then they all lost their minds
The most powerful interview Pierre Poilievre has ever given, and it was on Day One of Juno News.
Candice Malcolm and I were in Ottawa last week to announce the launch of our new media company, Juno News.
On the same day, Candice sat down with the leader of the Conservative Party and asked questions never before asked.
That is what you can expect from us at Juno. We will get the story, no matter what, and always represent Canadians ignored by the legacy media.
I could have guessed that legacy media journalists would be annoyed that we got an interview they could not get. We’re exposing their lies and corruption, the fact that they hate conservatives and are in the pocket of the Liberal Party.
But even I was surprised by the total meltdown in reaction to our launch and this interview.
Here is just a sampling of the mind-melting temper tantrum reacting to Juno News.
First, TVA journalist Hadi Hassan posted this clip of Malcolm asking Poilievre about the Parliamentary Press Gallery and access for independent journalists:
Translated post:
NEW: In an interview with the new media outlet Juno News, @PierrePoilievre describes the Canadian Parliamentary Press Gallery as a "small cabal of government-approved mouthpieces" and expresses his intention to expand access to Parliament for "independent media." The Conservative leader asserts that "traditional media have always been completely liberal."
Sounds good to me!
Here is the clip of Malcolm’s question and Poilievre’s response:
The exchange was also picked up by Reuters, Radio-Canada (French CBC), La presse and in Paul Wells’ Substack.
Here is where the meltdown begins.
Toronto Star columnist and CBC pundit Chantal Hérbert wrote the following:
Is that supposed to be an “Orange Man Bad” reference?
Did President Trump call Canadian government-funded journalists a “small cabal of government-approved mouthpieces”? Of course not, but any criticism of the media is supposedly Trumpian and fascistic.
Things went downhill from there, when Hérbert’s perpetually miserable Star colleague Bruce Arthur chimed in with this lovely smear:
Arthur shared links to posts from a seriously deranged stalker named Alheli Picazo, who apparently writes long threads about Candice and I in her spare time. I suppose we should be flattered, although, given how much she writes about us, I think it might be time to consider a restraining order.
My favourite response comes from another freelance journalist and Parliamentary Press Gallery member named Dale Smith. He tries to “set the record straight” by asserting that Candice and I are not “actually journalists.”
In the pathetic small-minded world of Ottawa legacy media journalists, in order to be an “actual journalist” you must work for a Trudeau-approved outlet, receive bailout cash from the Trudeau government and repeat the same tired, loser talking points.
In that demented definition of “actual journalists” Juno News journalists are proud to be outsiders!
Going to love seeing you in the press gallery and putting an end to propaganda talking points! Hold PP to account as well!
About time ,cant wait for Pierre to take power and make it happen . I am sure Mark Carney would not do the same .
