Latest import of Chinese EVs range from $119,000 to $159,000

According to Global Affairs Canada, 2,910 EVs have been imported since March despite national security and privacy concerns.

The latest shipment of Chinese electric vehicles has entered the Canadian market since Prime Minister Mark Carney’s deal with Beijing to import up to 49,000 EVs annually in January.

They come with a hefty price, with SUVs made in Wuhan ranging from $119,000 to the fully loaded model selling for $159,000. According to Global Affairs Canada, 2,910 EVs have been imported since March, entering the country with a 6.1 per cent tariff rate.
