Former Canadian diplomat Michael Kovrig, who was unlawfully detained by Beijing as a punitive measure after Ottawa arrested Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou, says China is not the answer to the ongoing trade dispute with the United States.

“The basic problem is that China is not a solution to most of our problems with the U.S.,” said Kovrig while speaking at the Future of Business Summit in Ottawa on Tuesday.
