Just months after leaving his job as prime minister, Justin Trudeau bought a large stone mansion in an expensive Montreal area called Outremont. The house cost $4.26 million.
This home is nearly 100 years old and quite big. It has about 4,965 square feet of space and sits on a large lot of 13,672 square feet, close to Mount Royal. The seven-bedroom house has five bathrooms, an office, and even a ballroom inside.
The broker, Joseph Montanaro, had listed the house for $4.5 million. Trudeau bought it in mid-January, and the sale was officially finished this week, according to the Toronto Sun. Trudeau got a loan from the Bank of Montreal to pay for the house, based on mortgage papers.
The property already has two different street numbers, a driveway, and a garage for two cars. Workers are currently fixing up the home.
Nicolas Ruggieri used to own the property that Trudeau purchased. Ruggieri had bought the house in 2023 for $5.425 million.
In his final year as prime minister, Trudeau earned $406,200. Starting next year, Trudeau will get a yearly pension of $141,000, plus extra retirement money when he turns 67. He is also reportedly earning a lot of money, hundreds of thousands of dollars, for giving speeches through The Harry Walker Agency in New York.
Former prime minister Trudeau and pop star Katy Perry, who is said to be his girlfriend, were recently seen eating dinner near his new home. They ate at Leméac, a French restaurant near the house.
Trudeau and Perry were first linked together in July 2025. Since then, they have been seen out in public together.
This news comes after Trudeau and Sophie Grégoire broke up in August 2023 after being married for 18 years. They are reportedly still going through the process of getting divorced.

Is it built on stolen land??..cuz it was bought with stolen money...HIS karma is gonna be soo bad, he'll be lucky if comes back as hemorrhoid on a gay man..🔥
Good for him. It sounds normal. Surprised he's not moving to LA. I assumed he always owned a home in Montreal anyways. Someone should ask him why he doesn't want to live in a "diverse community", ha ha - nobody does!
