Chief Justice Richard Wagner has denied a request to recuse himself from the Emergencies Act case, despite the fact that he was an outspoken critic of the 2022 Freedom Convoy protest against the COVID-19 pandemic mandates.

Wagner claims his previously stated position won’t affect the Liberals’ request to appeal a previous decision that its use of the Emergencies Act was unconstitutional.
