Stockwell Day compares media attacks on Poilievre to his own leadership experience
Former cabinet minister Stockwell Day says the media attacks facing Pierre Poilievre remind him of his own time as opposition leader. Day told Juno News that CBC staff once admitted they had “no idea how they slash and trash” him on the “cutting room floor.”
Day said the same pattern has followed Conservative leaders including Stephen Harper, Andrew Scheer and Erin O’Toole, arguing the mainstream media attacks conservatives with greater “venom.”

Carney’s sovereign wealth fund already failed in Britain
Mark Carney was involved in the creation of Britain’s National Wealth Fund while serving as Bank of England governor. The fund has since recorded losses of $162 million and $288 million in its first two years.
The Montreal Economic Institute says Canada’s proposed fund bears a strong resemblance to the British model, which it argues is not a conventional sovereign wealth fund but rather an industrial policy fund.
With Ottawa considering borrowing $25 billion for the project, economist Bryan Cheang says Canadians should “think twice” after seeing the British fund’s results. Keep Reading
U.S. warns Canada against retaliating over tariffs
U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said the U.S. won’t “tolerate” Canadian retaliation as trade negotiations continue, saying Washington is focused on protecting domestic supply chains.
His warning comes ahead of an additional 50 per cent tariff on hundreds of Canadian goods set to take effect August 19.

Main media is up to the usual as Stockwell says. But maybe worse this time. Conservatives have to get Pierre’s message out perhaps through clips of his podcasts and interviews. He actually comes across as a caring, family guy with good ideas to turn Canada around.
