Hello National News,

I am a representative of the High Park North Coalition ( hpnc.ca ), which was formed as a not-for-profit advocacy group to help protect our neighbourhood against massive, overdevelopment that threatens High Park’s ecosystem, watershed, commute to work, the children in surrounding schools, contribute to the extermination of rare black oak trees, and overall quality of life for all the people and living creatures within the neighbourhood.

I reach out to you directly to speak about the situation. We will be rolling a full campaign directly to many members of the media and I though a more direct approach was warranted.

As you are no doubt aware High Park is vulnerable to pollutants and sewage which may cause irreversible damage to its ecosystems. We would like to speak with you about our preferred option, stopping the development of 2 massive 40 storey skyscrapers by Elysium Investments that do not have adequate plans to mitigate flooding and sewage overflows in their building application # 25 222465 STE 04 OZ. This polluted flooding could flow right into the High Park creeks and ponds on the upper water tier and flow underground via the Laurentian River aquifer through High Park, into Lake Ontario.

The City Planning Community meeting discussing the proposed development is set for Monday December 1st between 6:00pm and 8:00pm. The location is the auditorium in Western Technical Commercial School, 125 Evelyn Crescent, Toronto (Entrance 14, accessed from the parking lot). If you or one of your colleagues would like to attend this event at, see the passionate opposition to the proposed development, we would welcome your attendance.

Please visit our website for more information ( hpnc.ca ). Would you or one of your colleagues be available to hear about this matter and discuss what we have found?

Our community values the natural environment and local waterways, and we are committed to ensuring they are protected. Your interest and potential outlining the situation to your readers could make a critical difference in holding developers and authorities accountable to safeguard these ecosystems. I would be grateful for an opportunity to discuss this further.

Thank you for your assistance in protecting our environment and for considering this urgent matter. I look forward to speaking shortly.
