A Federal Court judge is facing online criticism after granting a stay of proceedings on a deportation order for an Indian non-citizen on account of his wife suffering from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

The case of Singh v. Canada (Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness), 2025, culminated Tuesday with Federal Court Justice Avvy Yao-Yao Go staying the deportation of an Indian foreign national because his spouse “suffers from ADHD,” thereby impairing “her ability to manage time, stress, focus, and everyday responsibilities.”
