Conservative MP Jamil Jivani went straight to the White House yesterday, holding “productive meetings” with President Donald Trump and other high-ranking U.S. officials to try and smooth the way for a crucial renegotiated trade deal this summer.

Jivani announced Tuesday that he was “on his way” to Washington D.C. in a bipartisan push to “help Prime Minister Mark Carney” successfully negotiate a trade deal with the U.S. He noted that three-quarters of Canada’s exports still go to its southern neighbour.
