If MP's no longer want to be in the Party the supporters elected them to be in, crossing the floor should not be an option. The supporters of that area should be allowed to select someone else to represent them.

Yes, an automatic by-election.

Good on Scott Anderson

MP's should NOT be allowed to cross the floor to another party.

Period.. End.. Full Stop...

If they wish to leave the party they were part of when an election was held they should be forced to resign and an election in their riding called as soon as can be considered.

They should not even be allowed to sit as an independent as they no longer represent anybody but themselves which, I suppose defines an independent ... Oh well. Too bad.. So sad..

That the Carney Lieberals are trolling for a majority is no surprise as Liberal and Troll go hand in hand.

It is at the very least unethical.. OK.. Again seems to describe Liberals...

Bottom line though...

Thank you MP Anderson for having some principles.

Something that appears to be in short supply in Ottawa and certain when Liberals are involved.

It appears the liberal mandate is power at any cost, and in my opinion the electorate choose a candidate partly because of his party affiliation, and as we have seen some sneaky back room deals is a liberal strategy of MP coercion.

The jumping ship for MP's poses to many questions and needs to be a non option.

|Democracy works best when the people live with honesty, respect, courage and maturity. In a newly formed government school in rural France in 1905, a school teacher began the school day with a lesson on morals. What is your favourite virtue?

If one Liberal crossed the floor Carney would demand by-elections.

where is the not-withstanding clause!! Couldn’t even the Opposition table that to get something rolling; then make it retroactive to the start of last year at least. Got to keep the people who they represent involved, obviously

Kudos to Mr Anderson, a brilliant response at the right time, highlights the Liberals sleazy backroom dealings as well as subtly fires a shot across the bow of any other MP looking to floor cross

Are these people really politicians or just career pension grubbers who could actually care less about the people as long as their nest is secure? All 4 Canadian parties are useless as the condition of our country is clearly exemplary of so why vote since it will be either a Liberal (the worst party) or Conservative in the end who dictates the banks and corporations wishes/policies? Democracy is a Wikipedia term in reality, not a form of government anymore.

I think that political parties are killing democracy (although I understand how they came to be). All MPs should be independent to truly represent their constituents, and not the other way around.

I’m so happy there’s someone who stood in his conviction for his constituents! This is what our government representatives should be doing!
