Could Prime Minister Mark Carney be planning a trip to India next?

The Carney government has indicated it is looking at a restart of relations with India to become its next big trading partner as it continues its strategy of diverging from the United States and strengthening ties with repressive countries like China and Qatar.

“Interests diverge so that not every partner will share all of our values,” said Carney at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Tuesday. “So we’re engaging broadly with open eyes. We actively take on the world as it is, not wait around for a world we wish to be.”
