Indigenous land acknowledgements now MANDATORY?
Catherine Kronas was suspended from her local school board's parent council for politely objecting to indigenous land acknowledgments at council meetings. WATCH the interview with Kronas herself.
Did this mom break the law?
In this episode of Disrupted, Melanie Bennet is joined by Catherine Kronas, an elected parent council member who was suspended for politely requesting that her objection to reciting land acknowledgements be recorded in the council meeting minutes.
Also joining the discussion is law professor Bruce Pardy, who breaks down the constitutional and free speech implications of Catherine’s case. Is it legal for public education boards to suppress speech and remove elected officials for expressing an opinion? Are Canadians still free to object to political speech imposed by government institutions?
All this and more on this week’s episode!
I fully support this common sense wonderful woman and I have told her that, I am sick and tired of the cockroach scum in our governments, they all can go the HeLL...!!!
I totally agree with Catherine Kronas and Bruce Pardy.
Besides, this land acknowledgment is virtue signaling, nothing has changed, nothing will change.
If the territory has never been ceded, how come we still have "crown lands"? If the territory has never been ceded. then no governor or local government ever had the authority to grant land, which means that no government (provincial or municipal) can tax for land and land transfer. What is the value of my property deed/certificate? See where it leads when we start looking seriously at the question?
This land acknowledgment, we mean it or we don't. If we mean it, then we should expect change; if we don't mean it, then let's stop the charade.
