Internal emails reveal Canada’s immigration department was told to stop calling Canadian healthcare “free” when promoting it to foreigners, after a controversial ad did just that.
The more fundamental question is, "Why, at this point in time are we still advertising for more immigrants at all?" If anything we should be saying, "Come to Canada and break our laws and receive an immediate one way ticket back home."

Our medical system is broken right now, and the last thing we need is more immigration to plug it up even further.
My sister as diagnosed with cancer and needed an MRI. was an 18 mos wait and was marked urgent!! She had to pay for private. Our "free" healthcare costs approximately $15,000/yr! So free for gimmegrants?? But not for Canadians?? Disgusting
This is simply not acceptable, or at least should not be, to any real Canadian who is paying the bills for a supposed health care system that has become one of the biggest farces that a once respected and wonderful country previously know as Canada has ever been perpetrated upon it by the even bigger farces known as the Federal Lieberal Party and the abominations in the bureaucracy that keep this farce going.

I am just over 60yr and have had terrible healthcare services! A dr told me that a patient of his was 68yrs old and very ill, transferred to bigger facility BUT she still worked! Guess that was her golden ticket to advanced services.

Nothing in this world free except the air we breathe. Everything else comes at a cost. This is a fundamental lesson all children should learn by the age of 6 but in a consumer-based economy that lesson comes at the cost of profits, so we pretend it's not real.

My husband and I had a double whammy of hospital wait times. First Urgent Care 5 hours. Later that day hid Dr told home to go to a hospital for suspected heart issue s and that was another 7 hours. Meanwhile our Premier said median wait times are 3.5 hours. Don’t know what he’s smoking.
I do not know which province you are in. I am in Alberta. Back in late August of this year my wife and I were going to go out biking about mid morning with our biking group. While waiting for everyone to show up I suddenly lost sight in my right eye. It was like a curtain fell over it. I turned and said to my wife. “I think I have a problem hon, I think you’re gonna have to take me to the hospital.” As we walked back to our condo I explained. We parked our bikes and while my wife was getting her ID I waited in the car. Within about 5 min or so my vision started to return but we went to emerg anyway. A ten minute drive from our place.
I waited in the triage line for about 5 min before one of the two triage nurses called me to her cubicle. She asked me to sit down and the first thing she did was take my temp and BP. She then asks me what the problem was. I said “I lost vision in my right eye for a few minutes, but it is back now.”
Within ½ hour of that I had a vision test, saw the emerg doc, had blood work and an MRI. Within an hour I sat with the emerg doc again and he explained I had a TIA (short for mini stroke) and that the tests showed no brain bleeds or blockages, but that the blood work showed low hematocrit levels. O.K. He prescribed me to go on aspirin for the next 3 months even though I am already on Edoxaban. Also the next day I was scheduled to see an eye specialist and the following Monday a stroke doctor.
Long story short, though I am sorry to hear that the system did not work for you as expected, at times, perhaps more times than we want to acknowledge, it works pretty well. Cheers!

I'm glad to see the gov't change the wording, but I'm not glad about Carney's veiled threat to shut down social media platforms like X.
