A Hamilton mother who spent two years fighting her school board over land acknowledgements says the experience convinced her that parent councils are failing to hold the education system accountable.
Catherine Kronas, former chair of the Ancaster High School Council, published a detailed first-person account of her years-long battle with the school system that paints a bleak picture of the state of public education.
She described how her objection to land acknowledgements escalated into a public spat over free expression and the role of parents.
“I saw the board imposing a land acknowledgement on an elected parent council as compelled speech,” Kronas told Juno News.
