Those two American Soldiers had strayed a bit far from home and were part of an assault on a group of fighters who had managed to free themselves from a steel container where they were being murdered by the US and its Afghan allies in the 200 degree heat. They were fighting their way out of that situation with sticks and a few things they managed to get during their break from the container. Omar Khadr was fifteen years old and was found finally to not have fired any shots against the invaders and his captors though he had every right to in international law.

I cannot do all the work for you. Harper and the Govt of the day knew the facts as they got them direct from the US courts, but being haters of Islam and most things human, they tried to ignore them. Had they acted in good time on what the US was telling them, Khadr would not have had a case against the CDN government. He was right to sue them for malfeasance as we should be trying to sue the despicable Governor installed through tricks and probably electoral fraud as well in Ottawa. Khadr was on the right side of history. He paid for that with years of incarceration with no help at all from the CDN government which they were obligated to give whether they like the CDN citizen in question or not.

There is a wealth of thoroughly documented evidence that the Nazis murdered 250,000 men, women, and children under this program. Murdered by doctors. Hitler knew what he was doing. He passed laws that made it impossible to prosecute doctors for their participation and made that participation mandatory. The program was called T4 or Aktion 4 after the street address of the responsible government bureau. Tiergartenstrasse 4.
If you think it's impossible for this to happen in Canada, think again. We're already halfway there. If you enact euthanasia for the mentally ill, you must, by dictionary definition, precede the word euthanasia, with "involuntary".
Expanding government sponsored euthanasia even one step past its initial purpose - mercy for late-stage, terminally ill people - is beyond wrong. Any further step down that road is nothing more than our fiscally irresponsible government trying to save money.

I don’t know how a doctor can diagnose a patient as mentally ill and then say they are competent enough to pick a date to have MAID? My father was 100, had a stroke and opted for MAID. He had already been to the doctor about it before he had his stroke. He had been through an extensive interview, the doctors office called several times every couple weeks to make sure he still wanted to go through with it. You have to be coherent, they made sure he knew what he was doing before they came to his house. Someone mentally unstable would not be able to qualify 2 years ago so what will be changing?
