Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre called on the federal government to take a harder stance on foreign extortion rings operating in Canada, including by imposing a 10-year minimum sentencing for extortionists tied to organized crime, and deporting all visiting criminals and gangsters.

During the Press Conference on Friday, Poilievre was asked about convicted extortionists who may have been convicted only once, presumably to urge leniency. Poilievre responded by stating “I don’t care” and reaffirmed that all convicted members of extortion gangs should be given heavy penalties and deported.
