During the first BC Conservative leadership debate, hosted by Juno News, the participating candidates outlined how they would address the rampant crime plaguing B.C., which they all agreed was a problem.

Most of the B.C. leadership candidates attended, and all agreed that the status quo of “catch and release policies” under the federal Liberal government and the NDP government of B.C. was a major factor in the widespread sense of lost safety among many British Columbians.
