Hot mic captures Carney seeking Trump's approval on Chinese EVs
“It’s a cap… I thought you’d actually like that,” Carney was overheard saying to Trump.
Prime Minister Mark Carney and U.S. President Donald Trump were caught on a hot mic discussing Ottawa’s deal to import Chinese-made electric vehicles into the Canadian auto market.
“Less than three per cent of our market, 49,000 cars…” Carney was heard saying to Trump over the summit’s host feed, just before the two were slated to participate in a working luncheon composed of the G7 leaders.
