New hospital data confirms a spike in “birth tourism,” fueling a renewed push by Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre to end automatic birthright citizenship.
And now they're doing the opposite, extending citizenship to people who weren't born here and have never been here. I expect they'll drop another $60 million on an app that anyone, anywhere, can fill out and become a Canadian citizen.
This is what the baby boomers and the silent majority want; why disappoint them? Liberals are pandering to a certain class of people; in the very near future, Canadian identity will be lost forever.
Take note, "The lesson? Never underestimate the power of the Boomer generation. We’ve done so at various points in their life cycle, only to be surprised (sometimes unpleasantly) by their sheer size and influence. As they gather around the Liberal banner in growing numbers—motivated by Trump’s latest threats and a desire for a steady hand at the helm - I’d watch carefully what they decide to do." I am not the only one spreading this bullshit. Happy days are here again.
Well, Melvin, (nice quote from David)..but the "As they gather around the Liberal banner in growing numbers—motivated by Trump’s latest threats" is more MSM "news"..ya, there are many of us boomers that were getting swayed by the CBC's bullshit, ( mostly LIBERALS) but the vast majority of us have been well aware of the subtle changes happening in society (home and abroad) the last 3 decades..like this "Birth Tourism" (that started in the 80s or sooner)..when THOUSANDS of very preggers Chinese women landed here to calf..then promptly return home with another new "Canadian" citizen..and our RCMP caving in to pressure to allow turbans as the new dress code..and the thousands of "Turban Trucking" companies popping up all over the country in the early 80s..and all the Canadian businesses/ property being scooped up by Asians. Even then, when we'd inquire to governments or media of these issues, if there was any response to our concerns, it was very vague, and not much media coverage. So stop lumping all the BOOMERS together being the cause of the shit happening now..cuz it was us sounding the alarms for decades..only to be branded ..you guessed it..Conspiracy Theorists..
..turns out we're Conspiracy REALISTS, huh??..Enjoy your dystopia..
You are right in many of the things you mentioned. When I was fundraising for the Conservatives, the one group that gave me the most resistance were the seniors. They were hesitant about Poilievre wanted to see where he stood. I am a senior, so I had a hard time trying to understand their point of view. I didn't get one red cent from them. Their vote would have made a world of difference and possibly a Conservative victory. "I’d watch carefully what they decide to do." I think this sums it up nicely. Your day in the sun is well deserved.
ya..unfortunately we ALL have some dark days coming..but, like Gimli says before attacking Mordor.." Certainty of death..small chance of success...what'er we waitin' for??"..🇨🇦
If you want to push for change, focus energy on practical levers: local engagement, transparency demands, support for institutions that deliver results, and pressuring leaders to commit to measurable targets. That is how quiet majorities convert moral urgency into lasting renewal.
I support the Conservative stand on this issue. Our health care in all of Canada is in crisis & danger of collapsing. We need to stop the extra strain on our system before it collapses completely.
When I was in the military I was posted to Lahr, Germany (1989 - 1992). I had my daughter in 1991 in Lahr. She couldn't claim German citizenship due to the rules they had. For her to be considered to be German one of us had to have German citizenship. So she was considered to be Canadian only. So no dual citizenship. They went by the nationality of the parents. I think Canada should adopt this same rule.
Birth tourism is a lousy policy no matter how you look at it, and never should have been accepted as a valid idea. Kudos to Mr. Poilievere for making a serious attempt to get it stopped.
