Durham regional police announced it arrested a 50-year-old Richmond Hill, New York resident who was hired from the U.S. to perform a Hindu religious ceremony after the man allegedly sexually assaulted a woman after convincing her she was possessed by evil spirits.
Police announced Wednesday that they arrested and charged Rajendranauth Doodnauth Maraj, a “Hindu pandit” or priest, with sexual assault after he allegedly exploited his religious position to trick a woman under the guise of a religious ceremony in Oshawa.
