Hamilton school board to host Black-only graduation
The fourth annual Onyx Ball is taxpayer funded through multimillion-dollar Graduation Coach Programs for Black Students.
The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board is hosting a formal grad ball open only to “Black-identifying” students.
The fourth annual Onyx Ball in June, at Carmen’s Event Centre in Hamilton. The board-wide event includes dinner and dance.
Official materials describe it as an event that “invites members from the Graduation Coach Program for Black Students to join together and celebrate their achievements.” The board launched the first Onyx Ball in 2023.
