Gunman films brazen driveby shooting targeting Surrey residence

In a weekend media release, Surrey Police Service officers were called around 8:40 a.m. on Nov. 8 after reports of shots fired at a home in the 17000 block of 32 Avenue.
A video appearing to show the shooting in real time also circulated on X, a recurring theme in recent Surrey shootings.
According to one local reporter on X, a “Punjabi man was injured in the incident” with a bullet allegedly striking “him near his nose and cheek, a detail that has not been released.”
“What’s happening in Surrey right now is beyond outrageous,” said Conservative Party of B.C. leader John Rustad on X in reaction to the clip.
“Gunmen are literally recording themselves opening fire on homes, turning real neighbourhoods into shooting galleries while families hide inside. This is lawlessness. It’s chaos. And it’s happening in British Columbia, in 2025,” Rustad’s post continued.
Responding officers confirmed gunfire damaged the home’s exterior but, unlike strikingly similar shooting cases in Surrey recently, were uncommitted to tying the shooting to extortion.
Police said the investigation is in its infancy as officers gather evidence and work with other agencies to determine whether the incident is linked to other files.
