A since-deleted LinkedIn post by The Globe and Mail falsely claimed radar technology “located the remains of 215 former residential school students” in 2021.

“Five years ago, radar technology located the remains of 215 former residential [school] students,” it reads. “Now, the country is trying to understand what it is they found among the apple trees.”

Despite misleading claims widely spread by the media that 215 graves of children were uncovered at the site of the former Kamloops Residential, no remains have been excavated and no forensic or DNA evidence has been confirmed.

The post also linked growing “public impatience” over the findings to what it calls “residential school denialism.”
