Glenn Beck shreds Carney's majority, state of Canadian democracy
U.S conservative commentator Glenn Beck says Canada is no longer a democracy, lays out a long list of civil liberties violations, foreign interference and other issues.
American conservative media personality Glenn Beck said in an 11-minute segment on his show that Canada was a “managed oligarchy without real democracy,” citing examples over recent years of alleged election irregularities and referencing Prime Minister Mark Carney’s majority government via floor-crossings.
He cited issues ranging from foreign interference to what he described as a lack of equality in Canada’s justice system, and said the country’s trajectory should concern Americans if they tolerate anti-democratic shifts and authoritarian collectivism.
Beck also listed examples he said reflected violations of the rule of law, separation of powers, electoral integrity and equality before the law, which he described as hallmarks of a free society.
