Freeland billed taxpayers over $4K for two night WEF hotel bill
Former deputy prime minister Chrystia Freeland billed taxpayers $4,335.96 for a two-night hotel stay while hobnobbing with global elites at the 2024 World Economic Forum.
Former deputy prime minister Chrystia Freeland billed taxpayers $4,335.96 for a two-night hotel stay while hobnobbing with global elites at the 2024 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The records, obtained through an Access to Information request filed in June 2024 by former True North Journalist and Conservative MP Andrew Lawton, showed more than $26,000 in total costs for Freeland and two staff members to attend the globalist agenda-setting conference.
Lodging accounted for the largest share at $11,188.62 for two nights, with Freeland’s room alone costing over $4,300.
Airfare for the delegation totalled $13,079.08, meals and incidentals $1,810.20, and other transportation $208.64.
Lawton, now Conservative MP for Elgin-St.Thomas-London South, flagged the release on social media Friday, stating Freeland “charged Canadian taxpayers $4,335.96 for a hotel for two nights.” He also noted the timing of the disclosure immediately after her departure from cabinet.
The receipts, included in the department’s response, confirm the charges for the Ameron Davos Swiss Mountain Resort and other Davos-area hotels.
An administrative processing fee of $12.43 was added to each traveller’s bill, bringing the total cost to $26,323.83.
Freeland announced last week that she would be stepping down from cabinet to become Canada’s special representative for the reconstruction of Ukraine and would not run for re-election.
