Ford says hockey icon Don Cherry deserves the Order of Canada
Ontario Premier Doug Ford is agreeing with the federal Conservatives, stating that Canadian patriot and hockey legend Don Cherry should receive the Order of Canada.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford has joined the chorus of federal Conservatives, insisting that hockey “icon” Don Cherry is worthy of not only the Order of Ontario, but the nation’s highest civilian honour: the Order of Canada.
While speaking at the Brockville Correctional Complex about the need for harsher punishments for criminals in Ontario and Canada, Ford was asked about the backlash from Quebecers regarding his government’s move to give Canadian patriot and hockey legend Don Cherry the Order of Ontario.
