Ford records highest level of per-person debt in Ontario’s history: study

The Fraser Institute, an economic think tank, examined the real per-person net debt of Ontarians each year from 1980 to 2024.

Premier Doug Ford has driven Ontario’s per-person debt to the highest level in the province’s history, overseeing a massive 32.2 per cent increase since 2018/19.

The Fraser Institute, an economic think tank, examined the real per-person net debt of Ontarians each year from 1980 to 2024. The study looked at the annual amount added and the average annual change in real per-person net debt over each premier’s time in office.
