Great idea if you love seeing natural born Canadians unemployed. Send the asylum seekers home. Sorry but Canada is overflowing right now - not enough hospitals, schools are over-crowded, roads are congested, transit is an unsafe debacle and underfunded. We have no room, no money, and thanks to Liberals - no more empathy for these leeches on society. And as someone with two unemployed college kids at home, there are limited opportunities for Canadian youth to work....the government doesn't subsidize their wages like they do for 'foreign workers', and worse most of these foreigners have paid bribes in their country of origin in order to get the jobs they have here. Its a scam. Ford, you are a fool. Send them packing, come back when you have skills and after we have housing, schools, doctors, nurses, roads and hospitals - at that time, you'll be welcomed. For now, get lost.

Great idea! Give them job permits. They already get everything paid for by this pantywaste government plus a month stipend for each family member. So let's give them opportunities to work probably for money under the table) and take away more jobs from native born Canadian young people.

Send them home. The west is having problems as well. We have no jobs for our young but compensate these people that have no experience in most fields yet we think it's the way to run a country. What fools we have voted for... Now we have word this year is becoming a recession. I believe we already knew that.

They want the “ opportunity to rent a condo”????

Canadians cant afford to rent a condo. I know a woman and two children right now who literally can’t find anywhere to live, basically because they are white. If they were so-called “newcomers,” they would qualify for housing. But they’re just plain old Canadians, so they have no place to go. It’s starting to make me sick.

And I’m tired of older people (which is my category) who keep saying Canadians don’t wanna work that’s why we need immigrants to do it. That’s not true. I know lots of people desperate to work and they can’t find jobs, but if they were newcomers, they would have a job and their wages are subsidized.

Exactly. My middle aged child has been looking for work for 9 months and keeps getting passed over for subsidised immigrants.

Ford, you are totally off the rails and I will no longer be supporting your government. How dumb can you be to not recognize we have far too many and can't possibly support or integrate them with our culture. Get it through your head; this is Canada, not the UN!

Yeah, the problem is, they cannot get jobs. Not that they shouldn't be here in the first place. Good one doug -- duggin' a hole.

This summer the youth are unemployed in my town. Parents are complaining their kids can’t find summer jobs. The places where they used to work, like the fast food restaurants, are full of “temporary workers” who can barely speak English. This line about these people taking jobs Canadians won’t do is a lie.

That's right. I've talked to a couple of them on work visas and they say that they are controlled by the government. They can only work a 39 hr week. They get medicare, and their apartment is subsidized. And some have to return home to renew visa, and some can renew right from here. But I found that there are a few of them that are really good workers, the others are like they don't really want to be here. Not hard to tell the difference.

Ontario has the highest unemployment rate in Canada, but yet they can give out work permits for the fewer existing jobs there are to make life even more difficult for Canadians?! This is completely asinine yet not unexpected from a liberal. Doug needs to switch teams already - he is a wolf in sheep’s clothing and definitely not a conservative. He needs to go!

Ford is an idiot and this another example of it. Then Ontario seems to like him and buying into his insanity. How is life going to be better under this plan...oh it isnt about that. It's about buying/securing votes for the future, whether at a provincial or rumoured federal leveI

I think he is on Crack like his brother was. Very disappointing to see Danielle cozy up to him lately.

Utter nonsense and obviously a corporate influenced ploy to obtain cheap labor off government taxes (the peoples money) while unemployment here is at an all time high. Since the covid scam, there hasn't been one government mandate that assists naturalized Canadians and usually causes harm one way or another from suppressed freedoms to severe illnesses. We have a rogue government, not a democratic one and it is only going to get worse unless we act, Yoda. No more immigration needs to a policy going forward.

What an idiot. Youth unemployment is at all time highs in Ontario which also has the highest unemployment rate in the country. I am a conservative. Ford could not be more liberal.

This move will only cause a reduction in wages across the board. Causing a recession.

Healthcare is also failing. Over 142,000 people in BC alone left the ER without seeing a doctor or receiving treatment. That's nearly double in seven years.

And, if these people get jobs, will you be charging them rent?

There might be a case for this if we are talking about skilled professionals in understaffed sectors, but I suspect we are talking more unskilled entry level jobs while Canadian youth continue to struggle to find work.

Even skilled professional needs a cap how many of them we can absorb. The root cause is that Liberal government does not have any immigration and population policy even now. They just keep Canada widely opened to allow those so called refugees (I am wondering how many of them are truly refugees) and temporarily workers.

The Liberal government only fills up the number rather than thinking it through the vision of our country’s future. In my opinion, they’re a group of persons to gain personal wealth via their positions rather than serving Canada and Canadians!

Sadly we still have substantial voters supporting this most corrupted political party in Canadian history in last election.
