Ontario Premier Doug Ford defended his government’s decision to purchase a nearly $30 million private jet after he received backlash from taxpayer advocates and the public.

In Ottawa on Monday ahead of a business summit, Ford said the $29.8 million pre-owned Bombadier Challenger 650 wasn’t going to be just for him but for all ministries, that it was necessary for him to travel across the province, particularly in the north, but ultimately he is choosing to “listen to the people” and seeks to resell the plane “at cost.”
