Sean Feucht says his Canadian tour will continue despite six cities pulling permits and cancelling outdoor concerts in recent days, citing “safety concerns.”
This is crazy. Yet a Irish musical band called Kneecap that has been saying very controversial things about Israel and openly are pro-Hamas are scheduled to come to Canada. Some people want them banned from coming but their supporters are upset that they would be censored because of their views.
Here's a quote from a CBC article about the situation:
"The problem with the demand that they be banned is that the way we solve difficult issues in democratic societies is by public discourse, often very difficult, fraught, contentious public discourse," said James Turk, director of the Centre for Free Expression based at Toronto Metropolitan University. "And that's always undermined when one side wants to censor the other side."
Doing this to Sean Feucht seems to be hypocritical which is typical for our government officials at all levels.
Growing up in 1950/1960's Ontario our public school day began with the Lord's Prayer."
Eventually that was stopped. Some years later the only prayers allowed in those same public schools now are by the Muslim population. We've come a long way.
Seems the left have taken over the narrative in this country. While I don't agree with the message by Sean Feucht I agree with his right to express his beliefs. As we watch the Muslims do their worship at any time in our streets and malls we seem to allow those without any opposition by the shouting crowd. I don't believe we've come a long way. We have a hard working radical left that are allowed to run roughshod over our citizens with the help of this woke govt. Time to stand up to these embiciles.
The liberal MP for PEI is pretty arrogant saying that he is speaking for Canadians. I am truly embarrassed at the way our provincial governments are boycotting someone for their beliefs. Shame on you. If you disagree with their views, don’t go to the concert, simple as that. Just don’t dictate what everyone should think because you are close minded.
There is a prevailing attitude in PEI that merely listening to a different point of view has inherent dangers. Critical thinking is generally frowned upon.
Authoritarianism under the cover of safety concerns. Same old story. When will citizens make that connection? When the government expresses a concern for your safety, they are coming after your rights. We don't need to be protected by the government, we need protection from the government.
So let me get this straight. Canadian Politicians and officials are standing in support of the very principle that caused God to destroy Sodom. Doesn't sound like an intelligent position to me. Have these people forgotten that Christians are citizens as well and deserve rights and protections from violent Islamists and Sinsationalist Satan loving groups. The country and its laws were founded on Christian principles.
have these people forgotten?....hmmm. They have taken their lead from Trudeau when he said years ago, that Christians stand in the way of Muslims getting ahead in Canada. No one seems to do anything about the fact that, yes, Christians founded this great country and the one south of us, and Canadian values are Christian values, traditional values, and not right-wing. During the plandemic we weren't allowed to worship, against our Charter Rights....but who cares about Christians anymore? They are tortured and beheaded, videoed on social media while doing so. If Christians were to stop major traffic routes in Toronto to protest, or block major downtown streets in order to pray, we would all be arrested.
Well, of course they cancelled Sean. They have to make room for the LGBTQRXYZ Drag Queen Story Hour focusing on feminist intersectionality and the plight of Terrorists, er, Hamas, er, Gazan's. If Sean is allowed to perform there won't be enough room for protestors to lob Molotov cocktails at Synagogues and tear down historically significant statues.
This is insanity. Every day there is some leftist thing that happens in this country that makes me wonder more and more where "are we going". What is the biggest safety concern? Maybe some liberal that hears the Gospel and their head explodes. I know that doesn't sound very nice, but where's the truth? I would like to hear what the safety concerns are.
Ummm, sorry. Next step? The official RCMP spokestranny is already calling us dangerous right wing extremists. The steps are already being taken down that well trodden and slippery slope.
This is direct persecution of Christians by preventing them from performing and attending these concerts. Claiming public safety concerns is ridiculous.
About 100 churches have been burned down over the past few years and apparently there has been no serious investigations, mainstream media coverage or political outrage.
Peaceful Christians, especially pro-life activists, are being persecuted by being slandered and surveilled by the RCMP as extremists.
When a Liberal MP can openly state “this event does not reflect the values of inclusivity and respect that define the City of Charlottetown or the Government of Canada.” it proves that freedom of religion is lost in Canada. Next, they will be shutting down churches during Pride month.
Glorification of LGBGTIA2S+ (the + stands for MAP), abortion, MAID, safe supply, submission and supplication through compelled speech "acknowledgements" and irreversible interventions to "trans" minors are the new religious orthodoxies in Canada and apostates are vilified and criminalized.
Mention disagreement to any of these Liberal beliefs to the wrong person and you risk being accused of Hate Speech now. No joke.
I suspect much worse is just around the corner. Then we will see what real persecution is.
We will win, though. There are strong forces arrayed against these radical fools (JBP, Douglas Murray, Russell Brand, JCCF, CCF, FAIR, many more) but we fight fair and they don't so it takes a lot of time.
The explanations given as to why cancel are fine examples of gobblygook, nonsense phrases, such as this: "P.E.I. Liberal MP Sean Casey publicly supported the city’s decision [to cancel], writing on Facebook that “this event does not reflect the values of inclusivity and respect that define the City of Charlottetown or the Government of Canada.”
I am not a religious person - of any stripe - and am not particularly fond of the far right, Evangelical variety. I do not label myself, but if anyone feels the need, agnostic is close enough.
However, banning Feucht, while allowing the ongoing, strident and violent protests of groups such as Hamas and others -Khalistanis, Sikhs's, Tamil Tigers, etc., is dead wrong. These groups burn Canadian flags, on Canadian streets, and literally call out for "Death to Canada". This is a side effect of an unfettered and unvetted, out of control immigration policy.
From the dawn of time, extremist religious groups, left or right, have been at the core of most of the violence and suffering inflicted on humanity. Their mantra is universal. In one form or another, it's "Believe what I believe, or I'll kill you."
There is no solution to this. It will continue until the end of time. We, in Canada, have imported this problem.
The solution for us, today, is not to ban one or the other. Allow them all, or ban them all.
My vote would be for the latter.
But of course, politicians would need to find and display the necessary courage to do so.

Forgive me, there was more than a little sarcasm intended in my brief note.
I completely agree with your summary.

This is just another sign of the times we're living in. Yes, the Bible is my guide.
I can't imagine which religion of peace would make a an infidel Christian concert unsafe.
Authoritarianism under the cover of safety concerns. Same old story. When will citizens make that connection? When the government expresses a concern for your safety, they are coming after your rights. We don't need to be protected by the government, we need protection from the government.
it's called fear-mongering....same thing that Hitler did. Read the JCCF's book - Corrupted by Fear, and you will see the similarities...

I was not aware of his amazing talent before this act of censorship. Just ordered two of his amazing cds.

Have no religious beliefs, but cuz he is cancelled, i would go, or at least pay for tickets. This is BS!
The next step, and my guess is it will begin within about a year in Canada, is direct persecution of Christians.
Ummm, sorry. Next step? The official RCMP spokestranny is already calling us dangerous right wing extremists. The steps are already being taken down that well trodden and slippery slope.

Don't say that jokingly. They have been threatening to take charity status away from churches while granting it to LGB...
Who's joking?
Glorification of LGBGTIA2S+ (the + stands for MAP), abortion, MAID, safe supply, submission and supplication through compelled speech "acknowledgements" and irreversible interventions to "trans" minors are the new religious orthodoxies in Canada and apostates are vilified and criminalized.

that's why Trudeau brought in the Online Harms Act....it has little to do with children....
they will take away charitable status on all organizations that do not support abortion.....recommendation 429, 430....
Keep up the fight.
What? Islamic street prayers are permited but this is not? I'm an atheist but I defend the judeo-christian tradition because ir's OURS!
A bunch of bullshit. Almost think Trudeau's back in office. With all the wokes down east, this country is doomed.

Absurd.

I'm not hopeful.
Most wars have been fought, not in the name if religion, but by/for communism. True believers have been concerned for their fellow man.
God will have his way in Canada. No weapon formed against him (God)will prosper.
